Mouches Dee & Spey D'Ecosse
Les mouches dites “de la Spey et de la Dee” : Dans les Highlands d’Ecosse, bien avant que les mouches “Gaudy” fassent leur apparition, les pêcheurs de saumons, souvent de pauvres paysans servant de guide (ghillie) pour des pêcheurs plus fortunés, fabriquaient des mouches à saumons avec les matériaux dont ils disposaient dans leur environnement : des longues plumes fines de héron ramassées au bord de le rivière et des longues plumes souples de coq ou de chapon de la basse-cour entourant leur modeste chaumière servaient d’ailes couchées à plat sur le corps . Les corps de ces mouches étaient composés de matériaux simples : laine, soie, bourre de toute sorte de poils, le tout maintenu par un cerclage de fil (tinsel) qui avait plus pour fonction d’assurer le maintien des matériaux sur la hampe de l’hameçon que de servir d’ornement clinquant.
